We continue to take advantage of the area we live in by visiting all of the facinating historical sites. With Charlie, Heather and Finn in town visiting from Florida, we wanted to take them on a great hike to see thousand year old ruins. Hovenweep is a site built between 1200 and 1300 AD and use to house up to 2,500 people. It is located about a hour drive from Durango. We also stopped at another obscure site, Lowery Ruins.
You might have missed it, but the photo of the two people standing on the rock with Twin Towers behind them…if you look at the left of them on the rock, you can see the three grinding areas.
Thanks for the insight on the pictures. We always enjoy ourselves when visiting Hovenweep.
