Cameron, a native of Tasmania, an island state that is part of the Commonwealth of Australia, stopped in Durango as part of his mountain bike vacation of the western US. A very fit and experienced rider, we went on a 3 1/2 hour ride covering 25 miles and 2,500 feet elevation gain. Starting out from Cameron’s hotel, we rode to Overend Mountain Park taking on Hidden Valley, Star Wars, 8 Bells and Ella Vita. We next crossed over to the east side of town, up the Lions Den, around the Rim Trail and dropped into Horse Gulch. Then it was up and over Telegraph Trail, finishing with the 900 foot decent of Yellow Brick Road, Side Winder, Cowboy and Big Canyon. We had so much fun, we decided to ride more tomorrow.
Thanks John!
I’ve had an amazing couple of days riding around Durango with John. We covered over 50 miles in two days on some seriously great trails. John is super friendly, well informed on the area and good company on the track. I can thoroughly recommend Durango Bike Tours.
