The 2016 Tour Season officially kicked of May 2 when Jeff from New Jersey came into town. Coming from a bike Festival in Fruita, Jeff and I met Monday evening at one of my new partner, Peddle the Peaks, where the owner Cliff hooked him up with a sweet duel suspension Intense bike, complete with dropper post, 1 X 11 drive train, wide bars, and all the bells and whistles. The plan, which worked out perfectly, was to ride a couple hours Monday, 4 hours Tuesdays and 3-4 hours Wednesday. Despite some light rain and a few muddy patches, Jeff was introduced to Durango single track with a 2 hour tour through Horse Gulch and around town, finishing up at Carvers Brewing Co for some food and beers. Tuesday we tackled an almost 20 mile ride through Twin Buttes then toured some of the bike and coffee shops in town, meeting up later for more food and beers at J Bo’s. Wednesday, we decided on a little later start, then rolled off another 20 miles up Telegraph and then hit the classic downhill of YellowBrick Road, Sidewinder, Cowboy, Big Canyon. A little bonus single track in Overend park before burritos at Zia’s and the three days were complete. Jeff was an awesome dude to ride with and a great guy to get to know. Looking forward to the next time we can ride together.
