I had the pleasure of taking a 3rd generation Durangoan out on his first mountain bike ride yesterday. Sam, in his 50’s, whose Grandfather was a miner in Silverton, decided he wanted to try his hand at mountain biking. After some basic instruction we were off and riding. Sam was a natural, as well as being fit. He was able to cover a lot of terrain. Way more than most of the first time clients I’ve taken out. We covered over 16 miles and 1,400 feet elevation gain in Overend Mountain Park, Horse Gulch, and the Rim.
