Day two in Santa Cruz and Shuttle Smith reached out to his buddy Dave, owner/operator of TheRideGuides, to show us around the University Trails. Dave was super knowledgeable and showed us a kick a$$ time. We shuttled up from town about 10 mins and hit Barking Dog, which starts out on a 500,000 year old ancient sea bed, then finished with Mailbox, a smooth flown trail with several gap jumps and berms, winding through the Redwoods. We dropped about 3,000+ feet in about 12 miles. Dave and Dave both run great operations. Can’t wait to get those guys in Durango. I also took a tour of the Santa Cruz Bike factory, a block from my hotel. Pretty cool.
